Foggy Bottom Hotels

Foggy Bottom is one of Washington DC's oldest neighborhoods. It is believed to have gotten it's name from the low lying fog that used to cover the swamps of early Washington DC. Washington D.C. is made up of many neighborhoods, one of these being Foggy Bottom. This is one of the older neighborhoods that dates back to the late 1700s. Because it is located on the river, it has higher concentrations of fog and smoke from nearby factories, resulting in the name. This is home to the United States Naval Observatory and the campus of George Washington University.
